Meditating, Loudly

59” x 78”

I’m a chronic over-thinker. Before I start anything, I find myself trying to figure out “the concept”… what role does it play in a greater system… how will it represent a cohesive part of a deeper story? This quilt is a deliberate effort to break the cycle of overthinking. It was a quiet meditative process that resulted in a very loud quilt, representing a thoroughly non-cohesive, disconnected, and utterly meaningless depiction of random things: toenails, Fruit Stripe Gum, rainbow spit bubbles, croissants, striped sails, and my friend Shinae who loves Chanel.
