The Pop-Tart Quilt

I bought a bulk size box of Pop-Tarts recently and ate so many so quickly that I started dreaming about them. In these dreams, the Pop-Tarts floated all around me, and I was wracked with indecision on which to pick… frosted strawberry? blueberry? brown sugar cinnamon? I could never choose, and always woke up before making a selection.

In real life, it’s clear: you should always choose brown sugar cinnamon. Yum. And for quilting, frosted strawberry seems the cutest to me.

I learned two new techniques to make this quilt: (1) sewing organic curves, and (2) dyeing fabric. I usually try to limit myself to learning one (and only one) new technique on any quilt I make. That way I pick up new skills as I go, but still enjoy the flow of doing something I can do with ease.

Learning two new things on this one definitely made the process less relaxing than my typical quilt-making. But I dyed enough fabric for one more identical pop tart, so I'll make up for it by learning ZERO new techniques on the next one!
